A comprehensive guide to starting your career in ESL, getting your first job, navigating your first class and successfully teaching students ESL at every level.
You’re entering the world of teaching ESL
Perhaps you’ve volunteered teaching ESL and you found your true calling, or you’ve taught other subjects but you want to make a change. Regardless of the reason, you need guidance when you’re entering the world of teaching ESL. You could spend hours, or even days, going through various resources on internet search engines. But you’ll never know how reliable any resource is. That’s why we’ve published this book. Since it’s from BusyTeacher, you know it’s written by our group of highly qualified professional ESL teachers – people who have already succeeded in the profession, instead of someone with no connection to ESL who has simply done research on it.
- 55 tips to help you prepare for and acquire a job in the ESL field
- 65 step-by-step instructions to get you ready for teaching in every way
- 200 ideas all together on entering the ESL field and becoming the best teacher possible
Every step of the way
We wanted to create a book that would really help those considering the ESL field. That’s why we give you tips for how to interview for ESL jobs, the pros and cons to working overseas, the top international salaries, as well as what to expect your first semester and how to build your career. Working in ESL can be rewarding in a way that no other occupation can, but that fulfillment comes as a result of overcoming unique challenges not provided by any other occupation either. It can be a delicate balancing act.
So… Now I can always be prepared?
It did seem to take quite a while to come up with a title for this book, but finally it simply made sense. We’re trying to help you start on the road to excellence in your new profession, either teaching ESL for the first time or moving to teach ESL professionally. We’ve provided everything you need to succeed and thrive as you get the job, make the move, get through those first days and meet your colleagues. When you’re ready for the next hurdles in the life of an experienced ESL teacher, the BusyTeacher library will have titles for those, too!
